Day 3 NYFW: Toni Francesc

It was Spanish designer Toni Francesc's fourth season at NY fashion week, and the theatre was electric as the plastic was stripped from the runway and the lights dimmed. Models made their debut in fiery tones of red and orange, as the collection is based off of the legendary Phoenix (bird that bursts into flames and recreates itself). We loved the straight-formed wool jackets in darker ash colors that hugged the figure and could flatter any body type, along with simple yet elegant pleated trousers. Such an impressive show that had us all wanting more!






Mehron makeup and Salerm Cosmetics sponsored the hair and make up of the show and Nashelle provided jewelry.

Sneak Preview -- Toni Francesc

Spanish designer, Toni Francesc, is set to show his new collection GARUDÀ 
at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York







Toni Francesc will present his Fall/Winter 2011 collection during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and will return to Lincoln Center on Saturday, February 12, 2011, in The Studio at 9:00 p.m. This will be the fourth season Francesc will show his collection during New York Fashion Week. 2009 was the first season the designer was chosen to take part in fashion week in the U.S.





The upcoming collection, GARUDÀ, is Francescs interpretation of the Phoenix, an eagle-sized bird with red plumage burns in its own flames only to rise from its ashes every 500 years. The Phoenix has long been presented as a symbol of rebirth, immortality and renewal. The collection provides an into insight to each phase ranging from the fire to the ashes.





GARUDÀ is a collection that is focused on fire; its luminous and incandescent colors are the protagonists of the collection: intense golds, oranges and reds are the focus. The energy of the fire brings in ash grays and blacks and are combined with fabrics and silhouettes that represent the combustion and reemergence of the Phoenix. Garments are composed of luscious silks and wools. Generous, straight forms are combined with volumes that nip in at the waist and hug the body in clean lines that trace the female figure.







Francesc is at the forefront of breaking international markets for the world of Spanish designers and will continue to be successful this upcoming season.

NYFW: Toni Francesc S/S 2011 Preview!

Toni Francesc will present the Spring/Summer 2011 collection during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week at the new IMG location, Lincoln Center on Tuesday, September 14, 2010.


This will be the third season Francesc will be showing his collection during New York Fashion Week. September 2009 was the first season the designer was chosen to take part in fashion week in the U.S. His two previous shows in New York, were very well received by the industry and Francesc also received highly favourable reviews in the press.






The upcoming collection, “Urban Forest,” is an interpretation of a forest-based city environment. This concept leads us through an intelligent forest in which we feel closer and more in touch with our natural surroundings. Wood is the inspiration of this collection as well as the eco-friendly consumer and those that are committed to the environment.


"Urban Forest" is a collection that is just as versatile as wood itself. In this respect, depending on its treatment, wood can present its most natural dimension - as witnessed in tree bark - or its most elaborate side, including carved and moulded wooden forms. The Collection's clothing items present a series of rough and enveloping forms combined with other cleaner volumes and straight, milder lines.






The color palette is inspired by natural landscapes, using neutral shades such as beige, white and grey while incorporating tones that contrast with flashes of light in the shades of yellow, turquoise and coral. The fabrics boast their own organic language and are combined to bring texture to the designs. Garments are composed of linen, cotton and silk.


Francesc studied at the Instituto Catalan de la Moda from 1986- 1988 and shortly after created the Toni Francesc S.L. Company. Besides commercial success of his collections, Toni has also collaborated with several prestigious television, theater and Spanish productions serving as their wardrobe designer.
He has garnered tremendous press and attention throughout the industry for his unique vision and abstract designs. Francesc has participated in Fashion Week’s around the world such as, Hong Kong, Madrid, Mexico and Moscow. Francesc is at the forefront of breaking international markets for the world of Spanish designers and will promise to be as successful this upcoming season.

Toni Francesc gives us “Artificial Life”

After several successful seasons of participating in fashion weeks around the world, Toni Francesc will return to “Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week” for a second time. He will present his Fall/Winter 2010-2011 collection on Tuesday, February 16 at 9:00pm in the Salon at Bryant Park.

Toni Francesc collections appeal to the young and sophisticated woman. He is known for his innovative designs and experimentation of combining urban elements that coexist with the technical and useful. The upcoming collection, “Artificial Life” is based on an androgynous image, one in which man and technology combine. The collection is an in-depth interpretation of the future without overlooking the roots of the past and the world of hand crafted creation.

The inspiration of the season parallels the metaphor of humans connecting only through technology and feeling alienated without the face- to- face interaction on a daily basis with one another. The shapes and volumes of the upcoming collection are based on a mixture of pieces that protrude from the figure in parts of the body, such as the shoulders and the hips. Angular forms and projecting parts play a prominent role in the pieces. The fabrics consist of cotton, viscose and silk and the color palette is modified through fading processes to refer to rusted metals and industrial elements.
