    How to React?

Your dignity relies on how well you handle a response to rude behavior. There are many areas in which you must react appropriately and they include while shopping, at work, when out in public, and phone provocations.

There are appropriate ways to handle rudeness in all areas, and it is important to be respectful and rational in your approach.

Tomorrow we will cover “When Shopping?”

    See you soon,

Presenting ... Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Taylor Bass

    The Waters Chapel

My son, Joseph Taylor Bass, married the beautiful Lindsay Epton at the Waters Chapel this past Saturday. The mother of the groom, who just happens to be me, couldn’t be happier. Would you think I was bragging if I posted a couple of photographs? You are correct if you guessed yes! So… here is the beautiful couple.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Taylor Bass and ...

    their wedding party and  ...

the soon-to-be Mrs. Bass (Lindsay) and Miss Angela (my other precious angel)
    at the rehearsal dinner.

    Congratulations, Lindsay and Joseph!
    I love you,
    MOM

Now on to Embracing Etiquette with Teresa...

The Dirty Dozen: Today’s Rudest Behaviors

They are as follows, exactly as quoted in Emily Post:

    • Telling racist or ethnic jokes, which not only insults the listener’s intelligence but smears entire communities

    • Using four letter words and other obscenities in public without any reservations – especially in the presence of children

    • Doing the “cell yell” – conducting a cell phone conversation so loudly that those around you wonder if your phone mate is hard of hearing

    • Treating a salesperson, food server, or any other service provider as someone who is beneath you

    • Letting kids run wild or make constant noise in restaurants, supermarkets, theater, and any other public or private place

    • Endangering others on a busy expressway by playing NASCAR wannabe: zipping from one lane to the other while driving like a maniac and not even bothering to signal

    • At a youth sporting event, abusing the referee, coach, or opposing team’s players because your child’s team has suffered what you consider wrong

    • Fouling the sidewalk with spit, trash, or pet poop left unscooped (You KNOW that this infuriates me!)

    • On public transportation, staying planted in your seat when an elderly, pregnant, or disabled person obviously needs it more

    • Charging thoughtlessly through crowds – especially when skating, riding a bike or electric scooter, or pushing a baby stroller

    • Butting in, whether jumping into a checkout line in a store or taking a parking space that someone is clearly waiting for

    • Lighting up to smoke tobacco in a roomful of nonsmokers – and adding insult to injury by not asking permission beforehand

    Thank you, Emily!

All of this behavior makes the average, decent person furious but there are many who just don’t “get” it! Please pass this on.

Tomorrow we cover “How to React?”

First three photographs by Ann Wade Parrish, Photographer.

    See you soon,
    Teresa

Clever Gambrel

Jillian + John at Linden Place, Part 2 / Rhode Island Wedding Photographer

Posted by Trish: Photos by Trish and Melissa

I knew you would be back for more...these two are so adorable, how could you resist?!

So I totally missed this when it happened but how great is the best man jumping and clicking his heals in the background! I thought I was just getting a cute photo of them walking.

Speaking of cute, take anything and add two little boys, you got yourself some serious cute. Although getting them to do what you want is like herding cats, oh well.

We gave the kids a break and did just the big kids for this photo. Although I teared up while the maid of honors son desperately cried out for her, it was kind of tragic!

    Total sweetness.

I'm sure that little boy would find this to be 'silly' too. Whatever!

You have to have at least one classic portrait.

Is this out of style yet? Because I still love it and never get tired of it, what's not to like anyway. Some things are timeless and this is definitely on the list. One walking away shot, check.

This tree was the bomb, the texture is to rich, and they look great standing in front of it. Probably have driven by this tree hundreds of times, never saw it until this day!

Oooh, more walking. They look so natural here, love it!

The wedding party, back together for one last shot...

Jillian's inspiration was 'vintage preppy'. I think this feels like that. LOVE that bouquet.

The back of the gown had these fabulous clear chrystal buttons, so romantic!

Maybe Semia can tell us what these orange 'thingys' are, they totally brought it home!

I noticed a lot of guests eating their candy BEFORE dinner. I don't think that they were necessarily intended to be the appetizer...

Chowder by Blackstone Caterers. Oooh, mini doughboys!

I love this cake by Sin Desserts (she's right up the street from us in providence) it's so sweet looking. OK, I meant sweet and in cute.

The finale of all the hard work everyone put into this day...ready for the reception!

You know, there is always a guest a every wedding who tries to get in on my shots...

Linden Place is such a cool place for a wedding, this doorway into the carriage house is so amazing!

John doesn't look too happy. Although he'd had time for a few 'gansetts at this point...suspicious at best.

Looks like Jillian is happy too! Actually I think that they are not used to being int he spotlight and might have been a little nervous!

But they were working it anyway!

Another one of my 'blue light specials'. Oh it makes me so happy to get this kind of shot!!!!

Unfortunately the reception was no fun and there was no dancing. What?! Even grammy was into it, holllllla grammy!

Guess what song this was. You guessed it. Awesome.

Well, it was a spectacular day, from start to finish, success.
Jillian and John, here's wising you a long and happy life together, you are a great couple!!! Thanks for having us be part of your day, it was our pleasure for sure!

SJP --- Celeb Style for Less

My Life Right Now

My life has been pretty hectic with the arrival of little Max. The life I knew which was that of a working woman with one child, a husband and 2 dogs has changed. I used to purchase my favourite magazines and be able to sit down on the sofa and read them that night. I used to have time to do my own thing. But not these days.

I have had the new Country Style magazine sitting on my bedside table now for a few days and I haven't even had the chance to open it.

I actually glanced at my bedside table tonight and thought I would take a photo of it to show you.

It consists of the Country Style magazine which I am dying to open. It also consists of that pink fabric which, even though I had ordered the yellow colourway on Friday, I changed it today to the pink. I don't usually change my mind once I've made my mind up - what is happening to me? It also consists of a book I purchased on Amazon which I think is very applicable to my life right now - Just Let Me Lie Down Necessary Terms for the Half-Insane Working Mom by Kristin van Ogtrop. I also love the colour of it's cover. Today Harry made me the origami swans which you can see sitting there. I love them. Brad and Harry brought me in a bowl of Harry's favourite treat - ice-cream with coke bottle lollies on top just now to try to cheer me up. It worked.

I'm sure tomorrow will be better. Tomorrow our container full to the brim of Stuart Membery furniture will be arriving on our doorstep. Tomorrow is going to be a very exciting day.

    xx

Jillian + John at Linden Place, Part 1 / Rhode Island Wedding Photographer

Posted by Trish: Photos by Trish and Melissa

Oh, Jillian and John are just lovely people, so sweet and nice. She had lots of great details too, things that I think I would have picked too. Let's start it off here with a slammin' bouquet of bright and fun colors made by Semia...

Amazing invitations and other printed gems, see the list below to find out where she got them.

I just love orange and blue together (even though those are Newton South's colors).

Really fun shoes from J Crew, I just wanted to keep touching the fringey part!

The best quote of the day cam from one of the ring bearers who watched Jillina put her bridal shoes on and then promptly said "you look silly". Nice. That's just what every bride want to hear. At least she didn't have her dress on yet!

very cool clutch bags for each of the bridesmaids found on Etsy, LOVE all things on Etsy.

She's about to dive into this big white bridal mass to complete the 'silly' look.

    Not so silly now!

Ooooh, how amazing is this detail!?

I couldn't stop looking at this bag from J Crew, it's just delicious and elegant!

I thought that the flowers and flowers was fun...

While I was getting Jillian gettting ready, Melissa was downstairs wrangling the guys for a 'man photo'. Done and check.

Jillian looks so stunning, she was good at posing too.

A little twirling is always recommended, even encouraged on your wedding day, why not! Any other day you would just look silly.

Aw, beautiful! John is a lucky guy!

This photo is kind of a miracle. Have you ever met two 2 year old boys? Short attnetion spans! I love their little bow ties and sneaks.

So it turns out that Jillian is lovely because she has such lovely parents, Toni and Mike were beaming with happiness all day!

    The rings awaiting their fingers...

All of the planning and running around all stops in this moment. Take a breath because you are now getting married, the moment is here! It's emotional.

Lighting the unity candle, a nice ritual after the vows are official. Sometimes I forget how important these kind of rituals are, each couple does them, it's very sweet.
OK, so come back tomorrow for part 2 with the formals and reception...
